The best route here isn't built with concrete. Instead, the tide reveals a rocky path leading from Whytecliff Park to Whyte Islet in West Vancouver, Canada. A few hours later, the sea quietly covers the crossing again, making timing part of the experience. This shoreline has drawn visitors for generations. The tide opens the path; wet rocks keep you humble. The reward is a sweeping view back towards the beach and the hillside homes of Gleneagles.
Named after the pale cliffs that once marked this stretch of coast, Whytecliff Park also made history when the surrounding waters became Canada's first saltwater marine protected area in 1993. Today, those waters support more than 200 marine animal species, making the park a favourite for scuba divers and wildlife watchers. Harbour seals are often seen close to shore, and orcas have even passed through the area. Beyond the park, visitors can also explore Lighthouse Park or hike to the waterfalls at Cypress Falls Park before calling it a day.
