Misty mountains in the clouds
Today, we’re in Kananaskis Country, about 80 kilometres west of Calgary, drinking in this stunning mountain scenery. Pictured here is the Opal Range, a subrange of the Canadian Rockies. It covers a surface area of approximately 185 square kilometres and sits between two provincial parks – Peter Lougheed Provincial Park and Elbow-Sheep Wildland Provincial Park. The tallest peak in the Opal Range is Mount Even-Thomas. It’s 3,097 metres high and is composed of sedimentary rocks. If you’re looking to explore more peaks, Kananaskis Country is also home to the Fisher Range.
