A retreat in nature. Douglas-fir trees
MacMillan Provincial Park is home to giant Douglas fir trees on Vancouver Island. It is named after forester H.R. MacMillan who donated 136 hectares of land in 1944. A network of trails at Cathedral Grove enables visitors to stroll and explore the towering trees with some, over 800-years-old, untouched by the modern world. Here, various species of wildlife can also be spotted including woodpeckers, deer, reptiles, cougar and elk.
