What's in two names?
We're visiting a landmark of the deep Southern Hemisphere that's a true stunner by any name, but as it happens, this magical 10-mile fjord has two. Milford Sound / Piopiotahi is among hundreds of locales throughout New Zealand that feature a dual official name, with ancient Māori names splitting the bill with more recent European ones. Another well-known example is Aoraki / Mount Cook, the highest peak here on the South Island and in all of New Zealand.
