First stop: beach
Catch a red-eye flight to Tenerife and this could be your first sunrise seen from Canary Islands shores: Tejita Beach is just a stone's throw from the island's largest airport. After this stop, you have a few options: Head northeast on the TF-1 motorway toward the urban capital of Santa Cruz, west to smaller cities like Los Cristianos and Adeje, or north to the foothills of Teide—a large volcano that's the highest point in Spain. Whichever direction you pick, you'll be in Teide's shadow: The massive mount stands smack in the center of Tenerife, with the island's major roads forming a ring around its base.
