Recreational diving dates back to ancient times, but the modern, organized competitions began in the 1880s in England. Diving was introduced to the Olympics in 1904 and has been a popular part of the games ever since. This photo shows Canadian diver Maxim Bouchard moments after a practice plunge in Rio this past February.
