An adult black bear in the Tongass National Forest of Alaska
For the International Day of Forests, we venture up into Alaska, where the Tongass National Forest holds the distinction of being the largest national forest in the US. With 17 million acres of heavily wooded terrain, the Tongass Forest supports a diverse ecosystem, including alpha predators such as this black bear, which, despite what you may’ve been told, is very capable of climbing a tree. We wonder if he can see his house from up there.
