Agra is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, known for its historical and architectural heritage. One of the most famous attractions of Agra is the Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that showcases the city's rich Mughal history. Built in the 16th century by Mughal emperor Akbar, the Agra Fort is a massive fortress made of red sandstone from Rajasthan. This fort served as the residence of the Mughal rulers until the capital of India was moved from Agra to Delhi in the 17th century. It is also known as the Red Fort of Agra.
Inside the fort, there are several magnificent buildings and structures that showcase the rich architectural and artistic heritage of the Mughals. The most notable among them are the Diwan-i-Am, the Diwan-i-Khas, and the Jahangir Mahal. The Diwan-i-Am, or the Hall of Public Audience, is where the emperor used to meet and address the general public. The hall is supported by a series of massive pillars and still has the throne that belonged to the emperor.
