Back in the 1870s, there were more than 10,000 covered bridges spanning across the United States, but only about 750 remain. These near-extinct bridges add vintage charm around the country, and Vermont stands out as one of the states with the most remaining. Vermont comprises 104 wooden bridges that are still standing strong. They were originally built to simplify the process of crossing rivers and streams, but covered bridges were way more durable than the ordinary uncovered bridges, which only lasted about 20 years.

The vintage structure depicted in today’s photo is the AM Foster Covered Bridge, located in Spaulding Farm in Cabot, Vermont. It’s a lookalike of the 1890’s “Farm Bridge.” To this day, the bridge is still in use and is a major attraction for visitors due to its unique beauty.
