The locals speak French and spend Euros on this island destination, but we’re more than 4,000 miles from Paris. The island of Martinique in the Caribbean is one of many overseas territories of France. That means not only do locals enjoy the same French citizenship as anyone in mainland France, but French people can leave Europe to visit these warm blue shores all year round, without setting foot on foreign soil.
