It’s National Recycling Week
From a quick glance, you might think this submerged structure is some classic European spectacle, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, it was actually a part of the Castaways Sculpture Exhibition in Rockingham, Western Australia in 2012. It was also created entirely with recycled materials. Why are we telling you this? Because from today up until November 15 it’s National Recycling Week - a Planet Ark initiative that is now celebrating its 25th year.
Each year National Recycling Week aims to not only promote the value of recycling, but improve the recycling knowledge of councils, workplaces, and schools around the country. For 2020, much of the focus is on learning about how to manage food waste correctly, the journey of items picked up for kerbside recycling, and the valuable materials within electronics that could be given a second life.
