Springing back to it
These wonderful blooms can only mean one thing - spring is in the air once again! And what better place to see it pop back into our lives than here at Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, about 450 kilometres north of Adelaide. The sprawling park, which covers around 95,000 hectares, includes the Heysen Range, Brachina and Bunyeroo gorges, and the simply stunning natural amphitheatre of mountains known as Wilpena Pound. Cultural heritage is particularly important to this area, with the Adnyamathanha people (meaning hills or rock people) the traditional custodians of the land – their connection stretching back thousands of years with numerous rock paintings and engravings scattered across the park. Plants are also in a wonderful abundance, with the springtime introducing a parade of colour as wildflowers create nature’s most stunning carpet.
