Brightening the season. Melodious forager
Spring is upon us in full swing when the Prothonotary Warbler can be seen in its bright golden-yellow head and breast, chirping away in a distinct tone. Their name is derived from clerks in the Roman Catholic Church who wore bright yellow robes. During breeding season, the Prothonotary Warbler can be extremely territorial by chasing away intruders. They share their swampy habitats with the Red-headed Woodpecker, Creulean Warbler and Yellow-billed Cuckoo.
