Magnificent scenery. Unique ice formations
Living up to its name, Lake Superior is the largest body of fresh water on the planet. With an area of 82,100 square kilometres (of which 28,750 square kilometres lies in Canada), Lake Superior is the largest of the Great Lakes. It is about 257 kilometres wide and 563 kilometres long. This time of the year, the lake is at least 40 per cent frozen, providing visitors the opportunity to walk on ice and observe towering icicles and ice caves.
