We love trees. A celebration of British trees
To celebrate National Tree Week (24 Nov-2 Dec), we're showing our love for trees by visiting Abernethy Forest, a remnant of the ancient Caledonian Forest that once covered much of the Scottish Highlands. Situated within the Cairngorms National Park, Abernethy is renowned for its soaring Scots pines – the only truly native pine in the UK. National Tree Week was first initiated in 1975 and is the UK's biggest annual festival of trees, marking the start of the winter tree-planting season. Want to get your hands dirty? There are plenty of tree-mendous events taking place across the UK this week celebrating these wonders of nature.
