You're looking at a small part of the world's largest tropical wetland. Located in the heart of South America, this pristine environment stretches across Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay, covering an area estimated at between 140,000 and 195,000 square kilometres. It supports a rich variety of plants and wildlife, including rare species such as the jaguar, giant anteater and hyacinth macaw, while its huge water reserves are crucial for the eight million people who depend on the Pantanal's fresh water, fish, climate control and tourism.
